Taxidermist

You have worked hard, countless hours scouting around and plenty of hunting in all terrains and conditions. Your work has paid off and you have harvested an animal worthy of being mounted. But the work hasn't stopped, finding the right taxidermist can be the difference between a trophy head proudly hanging on the wall, or one put away in the shed.

So how do you find and choose a good taxidermist? Here are a few questions to ask and factors to consider to get a good quality mount, whether it be a trophy deer head, wild boar or water buffalo.

"How long have you been doing taxidermy for?" (This question is no gaurantee that the taxidermist is a quality one, however, it gauges their experience.)

"Have you got photographs of your work?"

"Have you got any testimonials?"

"Can I speak to some of your clients?"

If you do see the taxidermist personally, ask if you can see some mounts. And don't forget to ask about the price and time it will take to do.

Ask friends, or if you belong to orginizations like Australian Bowhunters Association, ask around if anybody knows a good taxidermist.

Search and ask questions in bowhunting and archery forums like AussieBowhunter.com, ArcheryArrows.com.au or Archery-Forum.com.
